Official figures reveal 12 new arrivals among 118 prisoners quarantined in various UT prisons, none tested positive so far

Srinagar, June 06 (KNO): Every new prisoner shifted to any of the prisons across Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory is being properly screened for Covid-19 before being lodged in the prison, Director General of Police (DGP) V K Singh said Saturday. “Every new arrival in any of the prison is properly screened by the police soon after the arrest,” the DG prisons told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO). He said no prisoner has tested positive so far. Official figures reveal that till June 5, 118 prisoners including 12 new arrivals have been quarantined in various J&K prisons. The figures state that in Central Jail Jammu, Kotbalwal, 4 prisoners including one new arrival has been quarantined so far. “At Central Jail Srinagar 12 prisoners including one new arrival are in quarantine ward while at district jail Jammu 20 inmates including one new arrival are in quarantine facility,” the figures available with the KNO disclose. The figures further read that at district Jail Kathua, four prisoners including two new arrival, at District Jail Udhampur six inmates including three new arrivals, at district Jail Rajouri six prisoners and no new arrivals are in quarantine facility. “At district jail Bhaderwah three prisoners are in quarantine with no new arrivals, at district jail Kishtwar one new arrival, at district jail Baramulla 11 inmates, and district Anantnag 17 prisoners are under quarantine facility,” the figures state. The figures further suggest that at district jail Kupwara 12 inmates including one new arrival have been kept under quarantine. “At special jail (correctional home) Pulwama 13 inmates including one new arrival have been kept under quarantine, eight inmates at sub Jail Hiranagar, one new arrival at sub jail Reasi have been quarantined so far,” the figures say. In total, 118 prisoners have been quarantine that include 12 new arrivals. None has tested positive among those in quarantine at various jails across jail—(KNO)
